TRAVEL BROADENS THE MIND: ARTISTS AND THEIR TRAVELS

In the 17th century Rubens travelled to Spain and Italy and what he produced during his future career was shaped by the these journeys.

Delacroix, at the beginning of the 19th century, and Gauguin towards the end of the same century, travelled further outside Europe to North Africa and the South Seas respectively - how did their travels transform their work and introduce new ideas to European painting?

Honours degree in History of Art, Birkbeck College, University of London. Regular commitments include Study tours abroad. Clare Ford-Wille is an independent art historian, well known to members for her courses at Birkbeck and Morley College as well as a lecturer at the National Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Centre for Lifelong Learning, London University, National Gallery, The City Literary Institute, The Art Fund, The National Trust and NADFAS groups in Britain and Europe. She has led many tours abroad.
