HERITAGE VOLUNTEERS AT CARDIFF CASTLE

Chairman
Cardiff Castle Hangings.

On January19th 2010 nine Malvern Hills DFAS textile Heritage Volunteers, together with The Chairman, Bill Denny, were welcomed by Matthew Williams, the curator of Cardiff Castle, to view the ten replica hangings, originally designed by William Burges in the 1870s, now on permanent display in Lord Bute's smoking room.

The work, under the leadership of Elizabeth Hunter, has taken seven years in the planning and embroidering and it gave us great pleasure to see the hangings where the originals would have hung.

After many photographs were taken, we were given lunch. It was a very rewarding visit celebrating the successful conclusion to many years of dedicated work .

The photographs show the hangings, and Chairman Bill Denny with Heritage Volunteer Kath Hollands
